300 MW of New Solar PV
Power Plants Being Developed In Burma, With US Backing
Burma depends on Hydropower for most of its electricity
generation, Hence the electricity generation fails to meet the country’s needs.
In addition, limited number of power plants and poor electricity transmission
facilities cause severe power shortages. Thanks to a new deal between a
US-based investment group and authorities in Burma, two new 150 MW solar PV
power plants are now set to be developed in the country. This project is
expected to complete in 2016. It not only helps the country meet its
electricity needs but also provide jobs for many unemployed. I think this
article is an ideal example of two nations joining hands together for the
benefit of humankind.
